Canuxploitation’s 2011 Holiday Gift Guide – Part 2

It’s a problem that has plagued holiday shoppers since the very beginning of time–what to get that fickle Canadian cult film fan on your list this holiday season? With only 26 more shopping days until Christmas (and even less until Hanukkah), Canuxploitation is once again here to help you come up with ideas. With Part 1’s CDs, DVDs and stocking stuffers behind us, this time out we’re looking at posters and other items for the home. Next week it’s clothing and big ticket items. So pour yourself a little holiday cheer and enjoy the real reason for the season: mindless, revenous consumerism!

Thanks to Canuxploitation contributors Lauren Oostveen and Allan Mott for their help compiling this guide.

POSTERS

PSYCHOTIC FOREST RANGER AUTOGRAPHED POSTER – $40
Created by The Dude Designs, this poster for recent indie horror comedy comes autographed by the filmmakers. [UPDATE: and the ranger himself!]

RABID POSTER – $45
You can’t go wrong with RUE MORGUE designer/artist Justin Erickson’s brilliantly illustrated poster re-do for David Cronenberg’s RABID.

THE FLY and THE BROOD POSTER – $30 each
A couple of classy Saul Bass-style poster prints for these Cronenberg triumphs by L.A. based Fro Design.

DEATHDREAM reproduction poster -$7
While the new trend towards re-interpretations of Canadian B-film poster art is often quite good, poster collectors still love a well-illustrated classic, like this reproduction of Bob Clark’s essential DEATHDREAM.

For the Home

Old Style Pilsner Board Game – $20
Terry and Deaner would definitely approve of this Vitamin P-themed board game. The perfect prelude to any successful night of givin’er.

Cabin in the Woods Snow Globe – $37
With every vigorous shake your recipient will remind themselves of all those relaxing weekends in the woods where all their friends went crazy and started brutalizing each other. You know, just like in the THE CORRIDOR.

HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN skateboard deck – $59
Made of Canadian maple (of course!).

Corner Doll – $50
Dress these slyly creepy dolls in a little tiny tiny snowsuit before wrapping and your recipient will be well on their way to starting their very own BROOD–without the help of Oliver Reed.

You guys are awesome! We also just want to toss in there that we’re giving 50% of the profits of the Psychotic Forest Ranger poster to support Tom Hodge (the artist)!

    Ho Ho Ho.

Hi! Just letting you know that I signed the Legend of the Psychotic Forest Ranger posters too. I played the demonic title character, and I put a little message on every poster I signed…. Canuxploitation ROCKS!!!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Seasons Greetings from the Psychotic Forest Ranger!

      Thanks Michael, I’ve updated it!

BTW, the question here was not whether Tom Hodge should be included,. but just which of his posters!
